Hiding in the sparse forest between Tent Town and the city of Hollowfaust, Feng, Quarian, and Molock scouted out a good location, but not before Molock heard what sounded like footsteps behind him. Changing to bear form, Molock left Feng and Quarian at a rocky outcropping and scouted the trail behind the group. Finding nothing initially, he is surprised, on his return trip, to see a humanoid individual crouched behind a tree some distance behind the rocks where Feng and Quarian waited.Giving chase, Molock is quickly lost by the humanoid. Giving up, the three return to the rocks and bunker down for the remainder of the afternoon as the fog is already beginning to form. That evening, the three beging to move under the cover of night and a thick fog toward the wall of the Ghosts' Quarter. For the second time, Molock hears signs of being followed. Indicating to the other two, he moves off their path and hides behind a tree while Feng and Quarian move on. Shortly after, the same humanoid appears and is immediately charged and easily pinned by the massive Werebear hybrid form. Intimidating the dark elf into replying, they learn the Newcomers have their position and force the dark elf to relay an all-clear signal. Unaware of any deceit, the group drags the dark elf with them. Arriving at the wall and finding their way into the Ghosts' Quarter, the sounds of shambling undead surround the party and an unnerving cackle can occasionally be heard. Only when Quarian, followed shortly after by Molock, begin to feel weak, does Molock strike the dark elf unconscious and begin to turn away the undead. After two turnings, Quarian loses his shadow. The group quickens their pace, uncomfortably dragging the dark elf along, even tossing him into the sewer to ensure its safety before entering. Discussing their plans, they decide to head for the blacksmith's shop - Feng's former employer - and kill the dark elf, taking his equipment, to prevent their plans from being known. Navigating the sewers proves simple enough and the group finds their way to the streets near the shop. The building, now boarded up, serves as their temporary hideout where they can recover their strength. The following morning, Molock is sent out into the city disguised as a craftsman to search for the symbol indicating the location of the sage. Molock makes his way through the city, his search unsuccessful. Bluffing his way into the Imperial Enclave -- the now walled off section of the city where citizens were evicted -- he continues his search and locates the symbol carved into a door frame. Knocking on the door, a female dark elf answers with a glare. Wordlessly, she answers his question and indicates the new tavern being constructed down the street, slamming the door in his face before he can even thank her. Molock then returns to the blacksmith shop and relays his findings. The three decide it best to sneak into the enclave that night. Summoning a giant crocodile and a giant blister beetle and ordering them to attack each other as a distraction, the three are able to kill the gate guard not trying to stop the disturbance and get into the Enclave. Unfortunately, Molock is spotted by a patrol and ordered to surrender. Buying time for Feng and Quarian to get around behind the patrol, he mocks surrender. As Feng fires on the patrol's apparent leader and Quarian summons a dire wolf behind the patrol, a loud and attention-grabbing firefight ensues, ending with three legionnaires in retreat. Knowing they must get off the streets quickly, Feng carries the near-dead Quarian and follows Molock's directions to the marked house. En route, he slaps the "band-aid" they took from the slaughtered dark elf legionnaire the previous night. Knocking on the back door, the door is answered and they are confronted by one of the dark elves who betrayed the group after routing the Githyanki... Written By: Thoth |
