The Dragon and I
First off, the cast of characters:
A Godling-cum-Samurai, Aberrant alignment and quite the asshole (played by Matt, who is not an asshole)
An Amazon from South America, Unprincipled alignment who has a vendetta against Hercules and is a militant feminist (played by Bridget)
A Physical Training character-cum-Ninja, Taoist alignment (the GM's PC) (I think this group feels that since its all the same system, it should all be in the same game)
A Kankoran Druid, Cormaic Ru, Unprincipled/Taoist alignment, with his familiar, Breas the hawk. Cormaic Ru is the only PC without a N&SS martial Art form (the weakest individual in the group, and my PC)
We're hired by an old man to rescue his daughter and bring her home so he can see her before he dies. We take the job, and set off towards the village (its location having been ferreted out by my use of Object read on some of the daughter's possessions), traveling for a week. Every night, the Godling stood guard while we slept, slaughtering tons of moths in the night to practice his swordsmanship. Nothing of import happens on the week-long trip to the village.
When we get to the village, Breas scouts ahead, reporting a village full of ogres, and the girl tied to a pillar next to a very large pit. The plan, as we conceived it:
The Ninja and the Amazon, both of whom possess the Arts of Invisibility, would sneak up on the village and free the girl while the samurai went nuts attacking the ogres, providing them cover to get away. I was to stay back as a trouble-shooter, with Breas reporting to me what happened so I could decide how to best help out.
The best laid plans of Gods and Druids often go awry, to say the least. When the Ninja and the Amazon (note that this group is very loose about character names, so I never really catch them) reached the edge of the village, the Amazon rolls a 100 for her Stealth, dropping her face-first into a cow-patty at the feet of one of the ogre women. The ogre woman starts screaming, thus starting the change in plans.
The samurai teleports (due to the rune sword he has) up to the ogre woman, and kills her. That enrages the rest of the ogres, who suddenly begin to grow. They are now what I term ueber-dogres, as the GM had to pump them up to deal with the samurai. A fight ensues, with the amazon and the samurai beating the crap out of these guys and avoiding most of the damage the would normally receive, but there are a lot of dogres and the wounds are starting to add up.
To provide some sort of balance in this party of rune swords and amazons, my character is skilled in Mystic herbology. He promptly starts burning 9 leaves of enchanted Solomon's seal so he can summon some lesser Elementals (3 of them, earth-lava Elementals), which arrive at the end of the round, and he directs to drive off the dogres (my character is basically a nice guy). Well, with the help of 3 minor Elementals, the Amazon and the Samurai are able to hold off the dogres long enough for the ninja to drag the girl we were here to rescue out of there (despite the fact that she didn't want to go). At this point, we all see the huge gout of flame pour out of the huge hole in the ground.
The party starts running (but I forget about the Elementals, so they keep driving off the dogres, who are having enough problems as they beat up each other), the girl being carried in a fireman's carry by the Samurai, the others heading towards the horses. When the fire dragon erupts from the hole, my character promptly pees his kilt (his H.F. total was 8... and he has a +7 Vs H.F.), and drives the horse with him and the girl away from there, with the ninja and the Amazon close behind. The Samurai is convinced of his own immortality (and, given the hugeness of his stats, especially when pumped by Body Chi, its not an unreasonable assumption), bellows to the dragon "YOU ARE MINE!" He then jumps on the dragon, who is flying a good 20 feet in the air (supernatural PS of 60 when pumped with Body Chi).
The dragon and the Samurai fight for a round before the dragon starts taking the samurai out of his armor and removing his weapons. He then ties the Samurai up with unbreakable chains and proceeds to read him recipes from "To Serve Mankind."
While those two are fighting, my character stops his horse. The girl is still screaming, so he quickly puts her to sleep (another magical item made with Mystic Herbology), ties her up (a bad idea, I admit), and casts Chameleon on her so she won't run off. I instruct the Amazon to wait here, but she ignores me. As I run across the plains, trying to think of something to do, I can hear the godling shouting some rather insulting things at the dragon, while the dragon calmly reads him some of his favorite recipes.
By the time I reached the village, its clear I have no plan. My Elementals are just standing there, since the dogres have been driven off, so I just have them fall in behind me (I had another magical item that let me control them, fortunately). I walked up to the dragon and said "It seems we have a problem."
The dragon and I chatted for a while. He offered to take my wand of sleep in exchange for the Godling, and I told him quite frankly I thought he'd be getting boned if we did that trade (to which, for some reason, the samurai took umbrage). We talked for a bit more, I offering my services, he countering with asking me to play him a song. Being a druid, I just so happened to be able to play a musical instrument and tell stories, so I sang him one about a dragon that won, and he let the samurai loose... after I secured his promise not to attack the dragon this time.
Since the dragon was my friend, and I knew the samurai would be back in a while to take him out, I went down and talked to the dragon, convincing him that he really should immigrate to the Yin-Sloth jungles and find himself some lizard men for subjects. (The samurai, fortunately, didn't catch on). The dragon offered me some items from his hoard, but I declined, as I didn't really need anything. With that business completed, I dismissed my Elementals and we went back to where the girl was tied up.
Or should have been. All we found were ropes.
I had Breas search the area for her, and he found her tracks fairly quickly. Unfortunately, he didn't recognize the trap she had set, and if it had not been for the quick intervention of the samurai (who cut the head off her stolen axe), I'd have been writhing on the ground. We put her back to sleep, tied her arms up again, and then headed across the plains.
When we got the old man, he took rather poorly to the fact that we had tied up his daughter (who spent the entire time promising the ninja sex if he untied her, cursing at the samurai, pleading with the Amazon, and ignoring me because I accidentally got some peyote when I was attempting to subdue her with my herbalism skills, and was therefor tripping for several days). He threatened to not give us any money (which I didn't care about anyway), and he got very pale when the samurai suggested that he would look better dead. We eventually left, with the Ninja and Amazon taking some of the money, and my character Negating Posions\Toxins once he
was sober enough to think.
All in all, my character wound up with a very powerful friend, the samurai with a moderately powerful enemy (my friend is the same as his enemy, but our respective powers are different), and the Amazon and the Ninja with a little bit of money.
