Fires of a Far-Distant Home

Fire is the essential nature of a Quorian. So long as it has fuel, it will regenerate. It can be tamed to serve, but never fully mastered... should your back turn, it can flare up and destroy all that you have wrote, should it so choose. Thus, it is to fire that I dedicate my life, and from fire that I learn my lessons.

Observe fire. Watch how it flickers out, quickling light that can inflict grievous harm. Watch how it consumes what it needs, yet can withdraw into itself to await new fuel if fuel is scare. Always in motion, one cannot grasp the flame unless it wishes you to... and then, it does so only so that it can harm you. Watch it race across a dry field, whipped by a wind that it creates for itself. Fire is the essence of the warrior, and the warrior is the essence of the Quorian.

As a youth, I was drawn to fire. Each night, as the silonar dung burned and the sloderi snapped at each other, I would stare at the fire. When there was fuel enough, I would gather it from a bonfire, far from our wandercamp, and study the fire as it danced through the night, attempting to join it in it's motion, attempting to learn from it. As I danced one night, I heard the fire call to me. Unthinkingly, I leaped into it, and felt the flames bathe me. They washed away the soreness of muscles and burned away the dust of many days. I spoke to the flames that surrounded me, and they whispered secrets in my ears, and dances that would call the power of the flames to me. My path, they told me, should send me north, where the flames of the sun did not pound so heavily on the land... there, I would find a path back home, and from there to the Home I had never known. Quoria, the Flames told me, would return to our people through me.

That dawn, I awoke amidst the ashes of my bonfire, my once-blue skin now a dusky red, my eyes so red they almost glowed. Traced onto my skin, in patterns of the oranges, blues and reds of fire were pictures of flame. I could feel the fire inside me, and knew that the flames had spoken truly. On that day, I began north, skirting around the Sea that looks of blood and flame, until I came to the lands of Barraduk. There, the flames told me to wait, for the path would soon be made known to me. I await the path, my spirit like coals, only awaiting fresh tinder to roar to life.

Description: Gorion is a huge Quorian warrior, standing just above seven feet in height, and weighing close to three hundred pounds. While it is not apparent to non-Quorians, Quorians quickly notice his unusual coloring and his tattoos (usually impossible to those of their race, because of their healing factor). This lends him a certain "exotic" quality that draws the eye of other Quorians. His clothing is often scarlet, and usually consists of loose pants slit along the sides (with seams at the waist, knee, and ankle), and a vest. His hair is worn long, and is rarely restrained.
