Castin' it Freestyle

Freestyle Magician

The Freestyle Magician is a Priority A magician who does not have to learn spells; he may simply cast them, without study or expenditure. However, he is extremely limited in what spells he can cast.

Much like an adept following the Magician's Path, the Freestyle magician purchase his abilities with points, based off of his magic attribute. However, rather than buying a point of ability usable for any magical skill, Freestyle Magicians are only capable of sorcery; they may not summon spirits or enchant. Also, they must buy ability in each type of spells separately, and initially have no access to astral space. Point costs are as below:

Astral Perception: 2 points
Astral Projection: 1 point, but must have Astral Perception
Combat Spells: 1 point per level
Health Spells: 1 point per level
Detection Spells: 1 point per level
Illusion Spells: 1 point per level
Manipulation Spells: 1 point per level

Once spent, points may not be shifted around; your skill is set. Furthermore, any losses of power points due to Magic Loss (cyberware, medical treatment) will come off the highest-rated magic skill (selected by the GM in case of two equally-high skills). Additional Power points are gained through initiation.

Spells may be cast at a force up to that of the appropriate level in the spell category; i.e., if one has a level 3 in manipulation, one can only cast up to force 3 manipulation spells. Also, spells cast by them may not use the Restricted Target, Caster Only, Very Restricted Target, or Voluntary Target modifiers to drain code.
